We want to tell you about an exciting new project for summer/autumn 2009.
LipService in association with York Theatre Royal, Library Theatre, Manchester, New Wolsey, Ipswich and The Brindley in Runcorn present Desperate to be Doris, a new musical based around the songs of Doris Day.
At each venue we will be recruiting a community choir, which will rehearse once a week for 10 weeks before we arrive and will be an integral part of the performance. So if you want to "shout your secret love from the highest hill" let us know. Either subscribe to this blog or e-mail us at info@lip-service.net

Funding situation
LipService are delighted to announce that the Arts Council England has revised its original decision regarding funding to the
award-winning theatre company.
LipService Theatre will receive one more year’s funding as a regularly funded organisation followed by a transitional period where the Arts Council will work with LipService to ensure the company’s survival.
The Arts Council had wanted to withdraw funding stating that LipService were so successful with venues and audiences that they felt the company could be commercially viable.
Sue Ryding stated ‘Obviously we are really disappointed that the decision has not been overturned in its entirety, but we are relieved that we have more time to pursue a new business plan and our programme of work for next year is secure’
ACE has acknowledged the huge support for LipService both within the industry, the local council and from the public, the strategic importance of LipService to the touring circuit and the high quality of the company’s work. Maggie and Sue are enormously grateful to all the people who took time and trouble to help with their campaign.
